“I can accept failure cause everyone fails at something, but I can’t accept not trying.” Dribble after dribble, shot after shot, keeping him self always motivated and making his dreams come true, made him who he is now. Michael Jordan, a regular athlete like no other, made his dream of becoming a pro basketball player come true. Being like no other meant he had to work as hard like others, but what made him different from everyone else was his great effort of always giving it all he had to be the best.
At the beginning of his career, Michael Jordan was cut from the varsity basketball team. Instead of giving up on his dream he flipped it into a positive thing and trained harder and became more interested in basketball, which motivated him, to be the best he could be. Michael, coming from a strict family was taught not to throw away his gifts and to always give everything his best. Michael’s father was his inspiration. Him and his father where really close together, even when his father was not really around being that his father was a soldier, but that never stopped Michael from motivated and pursue his dreams. Slowly, Michael moved up and became better at basketball. He always practiced at home and worked harder than everyone else, which made him the best of his time.
Michael started as a beginner like everyone else. He had to work hard to get were he wanted to be. He slowly began to move himself closer to his dream of going pro one day by practicing every day and every chance he could. Then he took a great step into his life and he went pro. All the time and effort he had put into basketball had finally paid off and he was ready to be what he always wanted to be. Michael had various obstacles through his career. The death of his father was something that made him want to end his career. Michael retired from basketball but later in his life he realized that giving up was not what he had pushed himself to be. He knew he had to move on with his life and while doing that he had to do the things he loved to do. Michael has influenced me to do better and be better at what I love to do.
I consider my self a beginner to life. I am getting through high school and then I am going to move on to intermediate, where I go to college and get my career started. When I am done with school and actually get the job or career I am looking for then its when I am going consider my self an expert at life. Michael Jordan inspires me to push through life even when you don’t get what you want. He has been a great inspiration to me and has proved that anything is possible when you give it time and effort. I am like Michael Jordan because I never like to give up. Even when others say something is not possible I like to show them that everything is possible when you dedicate it time and effort.

1.) What was a point in Michaels life that changed his life and that proves your point?
2.) What made him wanna give up after his fathers death?
3.) What motivated him to keep on pushing forward?

The reason why I choose this opening and closing combo is because it helps my writing not end like a pancake but like a concert. It brings in the reader and it makes meaning early. it helps tie in my ideas because with the opening paragraph I can make a short story that explains my main points and from their then everything else just begins to fall together and all my ideas beging to come together and they end smoothly. I want the reader to understand how my icon has inspired me and my place in the continuum of icons by the time they are done reading it. I also want them to understand my point of view of a continuum. I would also want the readers to learn more about the life my icon and what his inspirations where and who or what he looked up too.
