For Life the Book i will be focusing on childhood diabetes. One of the goverment agencies i will be talking about is going to be the different types of Health Care people use. When i read the article "A good case of Universal Health Care" I though it had a great impact to what im going to write about because some people do loose everything because they cant afford a doctors bill or even to take care of them selves. so learning about diabetes and its economic cost i realized that people with out any type of Health Care are most likely unable to pay for there diabetes needs and treatments. So reading this article really made me realize that Health Care is a human right and we should all be able to have some type of it because not everyone can afford a cost like that.
let say that the average american citizen makes about $48,000-$51,000 a year, and let say that they are rushed to the E.R because they got into a car accident and broke their Hand, Nose, and Neck and also totaled their car. the doctor fees its self are about $38,000. what are they going to do, they cannot afford to pay a doctors bill that high plus repair their car. the are done they have to declare bankruptcy, and mess up their credit for about 10 years and have to live a hard life because they are so limited with money. Thats why i think that Health Care is a human right and it should be provide to everyone, because with out it our world is going to end up in so much dept. At one point, that we are not going to be able to fix it no more.

Another article i read was "Health Care is not a right" this describes how health care is not a right and should not be provided to everyone at one point of this article the author states that Giving people free health care is a form of slavery because doctors cannot deny their services to you so they are forced to do it and sometimes for free. so meaning that they might do some type of surgery that is worth thousands of dollars and they don't get paid for that, and to the Author that is a form of slavery. This affect the topic that i'm studying because diabetes is very expensive and how are people gonna pay for the things that they need if they cant afford them i think that the government will end up loosing in the long run because if the make all these things necessary for diabetes and they waste thousands of dollars making them and don't make anything in return because people cant afford to buy them they are going to begin to loose a lot of money and that is not something the government wants to do.

I strongly disagree with this author cause he says that people should not have health care but i would not want to live in a world were everyone is sick and has various amount of infections and diseases, because thats only gonna make our world worse and not a save environment for anyone. so not only that but no one is gonna want to come to CA because of its un healthy environment. so that is going to be another lost of money for the government. thats why i believe that Health Care is a human right and it should not be denied to anyone under no circumstances.

Describe the types of health care problems Americans face, and the government's role in seeking solutions?
Americans dont all qualify for Health care and for that they have to pay the full expense or any doctor or other visits reguarxding there health. and some people cant pay that so it is affecting americans greatly.

Health Care Problems:

  • Economics-People Cant afford Health Care
  • Certain jobs dont provide Health Care
  • No charity is available
  • Some insurances lack the necessary coverage
  • The uninsured pay nearly $124 Billion on Health Care, more than the combined funds of the iraq war and the war at terreor

The united tates goverment plays a role in Health Care by Financing , Organizing, and Overseeing. The lower the rate of growth in Medicare spending and advance care planning for serious illnes

  • Medicare For Senior citezens
  • Medicaid, people below poverty
  • Nopublic Option yet

What specific steps do authors take to write non-jargon based scientific writing?

  • They use comparisons and examples. They make the context clear. The sentence doesn’t sacrifice information for simplicity.
  • They don’t use profession-exclusive words
  • Break down everything to language anyone can understand.
  • Describe different things clearly.
  • If there are abbreviations they first state what they mean or are explained somewhere on the paper
  • Instead of putting out the name of a very complex concept, they summarize it.

I will focus on childhood diabetes and how children develop it as they get older or if its just a genetic thing that passes on to their generation.
A government agency that i will be focused on is Health Insurance and the process you need to do to qualify for it, and if you do qualify what type of Health Insurance do you qualify for, full paid Health Insurance by the state or little or no cost Health insurance or even simply benefits from a job.

I will also focus on the economic issues with diabetes and how much its expenses are. I want to see if its true that people begin bankruptcy or begin to fail to complete other payments do to medical issues. i also want to learn about the expenses people have if they don't qualify for Health Insurance, and what happens if they cannot pay does expenses. Also i will focus on how children deal with diabetes at school.

These are some questions i am looking forward to finding answers for during this project
  • Do they take their own food?
  • Do they check them selves during class or does their teacher do it for them?
  • How do they inject insulin?
  • How do they handle a situation were their blood sugar is really low or high?

I strongly support the constitution and its first amendment, freedom of speech. i believe it is something everyone should have and they should be able to express them selves in what ever way they want. this article is about FedEx legal reaction and about a person that moves Arizona and has to make his own furniture out of FedEx boxes due to financial crisis. it talks about freedom of speech a bit and how FedEx made this person take down this website he made showing the stuff he he made with FedEx boxes

George Lopez And his thoughts on Immigration law in AZ
the reason why i decided to relate this to the civil war was because the civil war began because of racism and discrimination and it seems like history is repeating its self again and in this video George Lopez talks a bit about his thoughts about immigration laws all though its short it is very true and i think that this is a great example of the beginning of the civil war now in days

1.) what stands out in my learning is the project base system our school is based on. it makes things easier and more fun to understand. It is also good because in a way its a real world application because we get to actually see and do everything step by step not only in paper.
2.) Something that is working well in class is the way our teacher randy explains everything. He is always making sure everyone is enjoying and interacting in class he never leaves no one behind. and just that is helping me stay focused and it is helping me understand things better.
3.) Something i can do to build upon my success is stay motivated and open minded to be able to learn new things and take in as much knowledge as possible.
4.) I can make the most of my opportunities to learn by, Taking notes all the time, making sure that i understand what is happening in the class and making sure that i ask questions, because "A stupid question is a question not asked ."
5.) My goals are to be able to understand more the U.S history we are focusing on.
To interact more in class and make sure that i have my work so i can participate at all times.

Giovanni Magana

American Icon

“I can accept failure cause everyone fails at something, but I can’t accept not trying.” Dribble after dribble, shot after shot, keeping him self always motivated and making his dreams come true, made him who he is now. Michael Jordan, a regular athlete like no other, made his dream of becoming a pro basketball player come true. Being like no other meant he had to work as hard like others, but what made him different from everyone else was his great effort of always giving it all he had to be the best.

At the beginning of his career, Michael Jordan was cut from the varsity basketball team. Instead of giving up on his dream he flipped it into a positive thing and trained harder and became more interested in basketball, which motivated him, to be the best he could be. Michael, coming from a strict family was taught not to throw away his gifts and to always give everything his best. Michael’s father was his inspiration. Him and his father where really close together, even when his father was not really around being that his father was a soldier, but that never stopped Michael from motivated and pursue his dreams. Slowly, Michael moved up and became better at basketball. He always practiced at home and worked harder than everyone else, which made him the best of his time.

Michael started as a beginner like everyone else. He had to work hard to get were he wanted to be. He slowly began to move himself closer to his dream of going pro one day by practicing every day and every chance he could. Then he took a great step into his life and he went pro. All the time and effort he had put into basketball had finally paid off and he was ready to be what he always wanted to be. Michael had various obstacles through his career. The death of his father was something that made him want to end his career. Michael retired from basketball but later in his life he realized that giving up was not what he had pushed himself to be. He knew he had to move on with his life and while doing that he had to do the things he loved to do. Michael has influenced me to do better and be better at what I love to do.

I consider my self a beginner to life. I am getting through high school and then I am going to move on to intermediate, where I go to college and get my career started. When I am done with school and actually get the job or career I am looking for then its when I am going consider my self an expert at life. Michael Jordan inspires me to push through life even when you don’t get what you want. He has been a great inspiration to me and has proved that anything is possible when you give it time and effort. I am like Michael Jordan because I never like to give up. Even when others say something is not possible I like to show them that everything is possible when you dedicate it time and effort.

The aspect that has been most successful in my writing is the aspect of my icon. the writing tip that has been more helpful in the creation of my artist statement is making meaning early. It has helped drag my reader into my writing and keep them hooked, also anecdotes have helped me a lot and has given the reader a better understanding of my writing. these writing tips have also been the hardest because they are the most used in the writing and you have to make sure that everyone of your sentences makes meaning early and and has strong verbs. the most challenging aspect of my writing is the fans and his families aspect, it is complicated because its not very easy to explain their thoughts or ideas when you don't know them.

HERE IS A PIECE OF MY WRITING:

1.) What was a point in Michaels life that changed his life and that proves your point?

2.) What made him wanna give up after his fathers death?

3.) What motivated him to keep on pushing forward?

The reason why I choose this opening and closing combo is because it helps my writing not end like a pancake but like a concert. It brings in the reader and it makes meaning early. it helps tie in my ideas because with the opening paragraph I can make a short story that explains my main points and from their then everything else just begins to fall together and all my ideas beging to come together and they end smoothly. I want the reader to understand how my icon has inspired me and my place in the continuum of icons by the time they are done reading it. I also want them to understand my point of view of a continuum. I would also want the readers to learn more about the life my icon and what his inspirations where and who or what he looked up too.

1.)Jordan's father was a great inspiration to him he always kept him motivated and they where always so close to each other. i want to include his father in my writing so i can show his place in a continuum of icons and how it relates to mine.
2.)I also want to explain how he used to like baseball but then decided that basketball was going to be the life for him and how he was influenced to choose basketball.

This link will take you to a Biography of Michael Jordan that will explain how he was first interested in baseball not basketball. it will also have a picture of Michael Jordan and his nick names.this was useful because it help me talk more in depth in my writing and it helped me understand my icons life and his place in a continuum of icons.

This link will take you to a short article which explains his child life and the discipline his father gave him being a military man and how he was taught not to waste his talents. This was useful because it help me talk more in depth in my writing and it helped me understand my icons life and his place in a continuum of icons.

What i hope for this year is to become a better writer. I want to learn to express myself through my writing in a more articulate way. I want to be able to drag in the reader into my writing and make them not wanna stop reading it. I wanna be able to bring in all five senses into my writings and be able to keep people hooked into it.
I like to play basket ball, everyday before i leave to school i like to shoot a couple of baskets and when i get back i like to play for a couple of hours, it helps me stay fit and take my mind off all the stress and problems that happen around me. basket ball is one of my biggest passions because i enjoy the sport and i enjoy the way its played.
